What we collect, why, and what we deliberately don't.

Students

SlideQuest collects nothing about students. There are no student accounts, no student names are entered anywhere, and no student answers are recorded. These are whole-class games presented from one device.

Teacher accounts

An account stores an email address, a name if one is given, a password held only as a hash, and the games the teacher has made. That is the whole of it. Email verification is not required, so nothing is done with the address other than signing in and password resets.

Analytics

We record which pages are visited and a small set of named events — a game was started, a game was finished, a plan was viewed. Those events carry the game, its subject and grade, and whether the visitor was signed in. They never carry question text, an email address, or anything about a student.

For the library's “Popular this week” ordering we keep a game's identifier, the time it was started, and a one-way hash of an opaque per-tab identifier that changes daily. No IP addresses or browser strings are stored for that purpose, and rows are deleted after a week.

Payments

Payments are handled by PayMongo. Card and e-wallet details are entered on their systems and never reach ours. We store the identifiers PayMongo gives us for a customer and a subscription, the plan and status, and the date access is paid through.

Games saved to a device

Saving a game for offline use stores it in that browser's own cache on that device. It is not uploaded anywhere and we cannot read it. Removing a saved game, or clearing the browser's site data, removes it.

Forms

A deck request, school enquiry, or message stores what was typed into that form, an email address if one was given, and the page it was sent from. Requests are read to decide which games to build next.
